This program is based on traditional Yang-style Tai Chi, rooted in the ancient martial arts of China. Variations such as "Taiji Chang Quan" eventually evolved into what we now recognize as Taijiquan. Concepts such as softness, adherence, and using an opponent's momentum derive from earlier styles. The foundational teachings attributed to Bodhidharma at the Buddhist Shaolin Temple around 550 AD highlight the significance of mental focus in directing Qi to energize the physical body, a principle that underpins all Internal Martial Arts, including Tai Chi.

Master Helen Liang boasts an impressive background as a gold medal-winning martial artist, hailing from a lineage steeped in martial arts history. Her father, Grandmaster Liang Shou-Yu, has trained in traditional Emei kungfu and Qigong since 1948, studying with renowned masters across varied styles. His extensive exploration of Taiji styles such as Yang, Chen, Sun, and Wu has led to numerous accolades in Wushu and Taiji competitions within Sichuan province. The Liang family continues to teach and promote these arts from their base in Vancouver, Canada.
